First Mission Prelude, and Choices

Maqku

In the North-Western state of Ankish, in the United Territories of the Maqku, a force of Aqku attacked and successfully gained control of the town of Pradish. This town is a base camp for miners extracting metals for the Maqku.

An advance force has gotten to the area and has built trenches around the city to prevent the Aqku from using the camp as a jumping point to attack elsewhere. According to what's been rumored, the entire city is under Aqku territory, and that a large number of Aqku are there.

By railroad a contigent of troops and chemists have been dispatched to reclaim the town. Just to the North, two companies of Vulpen troops have been called. They are mostly inexperienced, though the leaders of the Vulpen feel that the best training is training in the field.

Haz'rd Vulp

When news reached that the territory to the South was being attacked, it was already known who would be sent. There was only one railroad leading directing from the Vulpen territories to Ankish, and even then, the rail ended a bit of a distance away from the city that was captured.

However, it mostly meant for the Vulpen companies that the Maqku from further South had already gotten into the area and started containing the Aqku. The wily enemy who, as stories told it, were brutal against the Vulpen people. There was a sense of rage with the nubile troops as they readied themselves.

It took two days to reach the end of the rail, and two days on foot to reach the trenches. There was a mystery on why the Aqku hadn't just attacked the Maqku who were setting up, but the soldiers who did had felt relief.

The Vulpen companies were settled into the front area, and if an attack were to occur, they would likely suffer the first, and heaviest losses. When an assault was to occur, they would still likely have many casualties.

There wasn't much care as to this, as being tested in battle was what seperated the pups from the alphas, and pretty much all the Vulpen strove for alpha status.

They were stationed there for a day when a scouting party came into the trenches. The three Aqku were quickly defeated, but oddly enough, when they died, their bodies floated into the air, and back into the town.

Aqku devilry, the Vulpen's knew, and it unified them as they prepared for a fight. It didn't come immediately, and unfortunately during this time the social interaction between Vulpen and Maqku wasn't all that pleasant. One commander for the Maqku was clearly overheard referring to the Vulpen as "mangy mutts," and "useless dogs." It lead to lowered morale for a lot of the Vulpen, as three more days passed.

Finally, after five days of being in the trenches, they could smell it in the air. The Aqku were moving in for a strike, and the Vulpen prepared. There were no waves in the assault, the Aqku flooded the tunnels all at once, overwhelming the scattered soldiers here and there, and pushing quickly into the heart of the trench network.

Outside the shelter that Haz'rd was in, he could see Aqku streaming by, appearing to not even notice the Vulpen inside. Shots rang out, and then the stream came into the shelter. The Vulpen were pushed back towards the second exit, but a group of Maqku soldiers blocked the way.

There was a quick and intense fight at this point where a few Aqku fell, but many Maqku parished. A few Vulpen died here as well, but their skill with the rifle kept some at bay, while their natural dexterity cunningly dodged many of the Aqku's melee strikes.

Haz'rd himself even managed to shoot an Aqku square between the eyes. But it was at this point there was a decision to be made. Either go with the Maqku troops in a counter attack, or head through the door they had come through, and take out what Aqku crossed his path for escape.

Choices-
1. Face the Aqku head-on in a counter attack.
2. Help the defense by falling back.

Sylus Horonto

Sylus had originally called into the Ankish state as a contractor to help with the logistics in fuel management and onsite projectile production. When he got to the edge of the city of Pradish his role shifted to that of trench digger, and making sure some conscript didn't go into certain storage areas for a smoke, and blow himself up.

It was degrading to do this, but in a strange sense he was relieved to be doing it. He got to chat with a few of the soldiers and find out things through them. There was a strong fear that the Aqku would blitz the work being done and take out the workers, but such an assault never came. A few days passed and two companies of Vulpen soldiers made their way to the front lines, where the first work had been done.

There was resentment from the soldiers because of this, sense it meant they for a night they'd have to sleep outside while new shelters were dug out. There was little care for the Vulpen's from many of them. They were considered abberations, freaks of nature that should never have been created. Sylus didn't share this view, but he knew that openly speaking out about it might cause him to not wake up in the morning from a slit throat, or worse, being burned alive after being drug out in the middle of the desert and beaten nearly to death, as was common practice for people speaking out against the cruel treatment Vulpen's faced outside of their homes.

Keeping away from that were he could, he got the chance to overhear some of the higher-ups that were discussing tactics. Intelligence, they said, put the Aqku for attacking within the next few days to drive them out. A plan was formulated, and the commanders thought it had a good chance of success.

Three days later it was shared to the chemists that if the engineers failed to detonate explosives at a certain time, that it would be up to them to set them up. There were two places that needed to be blown once the Aqku started their assault. The first was just behind where the Vulpen's would retreat from, likely causing heavy losses to the Aqku. The second was a likely attack point that when taken out, would make a counter attack more likely to succeed.

Then the day came, and the Aqku started attacking. The chemists were far away from the action, and for a while it seemed as though nothing much would happen where they were. A commander came into the room and fell, he barely muttured that the engineers had turned coward and ran before hitting the floor dead.

The chemists turned to each other and there was a mad dash for the door, each man turning to leave the trenches and hope they could make it to the rails to get out alive. This left Sylus alone in the room with an eerie calm. It was his choice what to do now.

Choices-
1. Set explosives behind the Vulpen shelters.
2. Set the explosives for an easier counter-attack.
3. Turn and run and hope that the Aqku take out someone else instead.

Aqku

Prelude-

In North Crescent there was a small problem with one of the local children. He would throw fits twice a month, and whatever room he was in would be completely destroyed. No one would know when it would happen, and on any other day he would be just a normal boy.

Priests had looked at him and they could not figure out any reason why it was happening. He had no marks of magic on him, but had once torn a fifty year old tree straight out by the roots. Even during these times he displayed no channels of non-normal powers in his body.

If the boy could control himself it would not be a problem, and although he never hurt anyone too badly, he did do quite a bit of damage.

Nenimeindrol headed North through the state of Crescent, and had plans of making it all the way to the ports, to down to the capital state, where most of the national plans are formulated. After a few days journey he reached the town of Saranihm.

In the town he talked to various people, learned a little bit about the area, and was told that the preacher in town might need some help with something. They were very vague on it and said the preacher would be able to tell more then they could.

So he went to the local preacher, and he told Nenimeindrol of a boy with an issue. Twice monthly he would lose control, and lots would be destroyed. The preacher asked Nenimeindrol to look into it, and he went to the boy's house.

There he was greeted by an older woman who had the barings of someone who had seen a lot in her life, but yet did not lack the mark of humbleness. She introduced Nenimeindrol to the boy and they talked.

Before he had gotten to the house, he thought that the story of the boy was familair. When he saw the child's face for himself he recognized the features almost immediately.

During his studies he had read of a great knight that could call upon the Lord for great power in battle. It was much more then any other knight could muster, and in doing so managed to be the strongest knight in history. His story was not, however, that well known, as it was widely considered that he was far from the peak of his career when he was killed in battle.

With this though Nenimeindrol knew there were a few things that he could do. Surely he would tell the parent and preacher of what he knew, but there was choice to be made with what could be done afterward. He knew that training to be a knight was a very long road, and that the boy would need help immidiately. But he also knew that the schools he was much to young to for the sturdy training needed, and he was certain that the resources to send the child away were not there. So he had to make a choice.

Choices-
1. Stay in town a few weeks and help train the boy.
2. Focus the boy on prayer instead.
3. Tell the preacher and parents his thoughts and move on.

Resolution will occur on Sunday. If no choice is picked, the first choice will be automatically assumed.
