Prelude, Choices, and Resolution
Prelude
Haz'rd Vulp
Through the forest, South, they both went. Every now and then they would pause to listen to the woods for followers. They would hear nothing and move on, always doing their best not to leave tracks.
The Maqku got testy when the village held captive their soldiers, and a release was made. There were many rumors out there, but the one that held the Maqku was that the two survivors in the skirmish were heading to take out the source the victim had named.
There was little telling what was going through the two minds as they ran, but stopping was not an option they would likely choose.
Sylus Horonto
He sat in a small room for an hour before a man walked in with a large folder. Sitting down across from Sylus they began to chat. It was idle at first, but it started to get more serious. The man seemed to know everything about Sylus' life and went through every sordid detail.
The purpose of this part of training was to get everything out of the way, for the company to be absolutely sure that the operative in training could be dependable, trustable, and most of all, worthy of being an operative.

There was a fork in the road, and since he knew the Western side of Norteset wasn't as heavily populated he decided to go East. It would also be a bit shorter, he thought to himself, in the long run.
So along he walked, noticing how high the hills rose just to his North. Almost small mountains he thought to himself. He thought it was a good thing he didn't try to climb them, either, for it would likely take all day just getting up one side.
As it neared nightfall he came upon a wagon.
Choices
Haz'rd Vulp
They were just over the border, and the ground beneath their feet went from grass and dirt to sand. This was firmly Maqku territory, and they would have to be very careful how they moved out here.
It was nighttime, which was lucky for the both, because it was still in the summer months, and the heat of the sun during the day is never good in the desert, especially when you're wearing a fur coat. They traveled most of the night, and as the sun started coming up started to slow down.
In the air they could faintly smell it, and moved towards where they thought it was. Digging in the sand they found it, a small patch of water. It wasn't the best tasting, and they hoped it was healthy, but they had no way of knowing. They rested as the sun started coming up, and drank when they needed too. Sleeping wasn't easy, but they managed to get enough as the sun started going down.
They needed food, and that too was found easily enough. There was a creature that rolled into a ball, but it didn't hide its tail correctly, so opening it up and getting at its underbelly was a simple matter. It wasn't cooked, but it was tasty none-the-less.
On the second day there was trouble. The Maqku had found them it seemed, and a small group of four men made their way to the two. They lay there, not knowing what to do. As the men approached it seemed they didn't know what they were going to do, either.
"You there, what are you doing out here," asked one of the Maqku. Haz'rd replied to him, "We're taking a refresher course on survival, as our people do from time to time." The Maqku that had spoken spit at the feet of Haz'rd, and said plainly, "I think yer lyin'."
Haz'rd jumped to his feet and the air was greeted to the sound of gunfire. One of the Maqku had gotten jittery and fired into the ground from the surprise of seeing the Vulpen rise to quickly. There wasn't a very pleasant look on Haz'rd face as he yelled at the Maqku, "Our people do not lie, we're not like you sniveling cowards! We embrace our past and don't run in fear like you!"
The Maqku was not please, "Now you listen here, mutt, we're the law, and your people bow to us!" Haz'rd curled a fist, ready to strike the Maqku. He noticed and spoke, "Take 'em down."
As those words were spoken two shots rang out very quickly. The Vulpen behind Haz'rd had both bayonets ready, and the Maqku that had previously fired, and the one Haz'rd was arguing with were the only ones left standing.
An attempt was made by the Maqku that Haz'rd was talking with to fire his weapon, but it was knocked out of his hands and knocked back with seemingly little effort. The man was strong for a human, but Haz'rd was stronger.
The second Maqku tried to get at Haz'rd, but was taken down by the other Vulpen, and a knife was pressed to his throat. Haz'rd jumped on the man and knocked the wind out of him, and did similiar with the Maqku with a knife.
Choices
1. Kill the Maqku outright
2. Leave them be, but take or destroy their weapons.
3. Make them dig holes to bury their companions.
4. Mix of the above, if so, what.
Sylus Horonto
It was time for his first assignment. Sylus was informed of a problem up North that had to be taken care of. It seemed that two Vulpen had decided to kill some innocent Maqku citizens in their territory and needed to be eliminated.
Sylus went up North by train and prepared himself for his first mission. Once completed he would report back to his headquarters. They had been gone for some time without capture, but the village where they tortured the Maqku would likely hold some information on their whereabouts.
So that's where he went. It was a bit of a walk, since the rails didn't go too far into Vulpen territory. When he walked by Vulpen he was jeered at, but he remained strong. Once he got to the village he went straight to its elders.
Choices
1. Convince the elder that he'll try to bring them in safely.
2. Convince the elder that if he doesn't help bad things will happen to them.

At the wagon he found tracks, and blood all around it. The tracks looked human, but some looked to be of a woodland creature, and many of them. It was a simple choice for him. Either investigate, or consider them dead.

1. Investigate
2. Consider them dead
Resolution
Haz'rd Vulp
The sun beat down on all four of the living. Already the corpses were beginning to stink, a sign of the corruption the Maqku desert brings. They knew, the two Maqku, that they would likely be shot in the back of the head when they went, but they put up no resistance. It was lucky enough for them that they would at least get a decent hole to spend eternity in.
As the sun set down it happened. The Maqku were wrong in that they were shot through the heart instead. The Vulpen pushed the sand over the four Maqku, then began to head South again. They had no idea how long it would take, but injustice must always be punished.
Sylus Horonto
He was up half the night talking with the elder. It was imperative that he get the information he needed. Constantly reassuring the elder had some minor affect. Then, when the moon was ready to set, he told Sylus about where the poachers were taking their skins.
With this information he set off to send a telegraph warning of the danger the beaurocrat was in.

Following the tracks he made his way up to the hills. There were some trees covering the bodies, but there they were. It looked like wolves had gotten hungry and attacked, strange considering the herbivore population was said to be very high these days.
Walking back to the wagon he found a shovel, and dug their graves. He performed a burial ceremony for the couple, and as gently as he could put them into the ground. Taking note of where the wagon was, he planned on telling authorities at the next town he arrived at.
