Prelude, Choices, and Resolution

Haz'rd Vulp
Prelude
Haz'rd and his companion were greeted well the day after they arrived home. He took the initiative and talked with the council on setting up defenses for the Vulpen Territory. He wasn't exactly rebuffed, but they didn't give him full authority, either.

Haz'rd was, however, promoted to the rank of Engineer, a level of command that carries with it the responsibility of a soldier to use heavy explosives, artillery, but also higher authority in the Vulpen military.

Action
It was odd, being a high commander then before, but Haz'rd started settling in a little bit easier when news arrived by a Maqku carrier that "Haz'rd Vulp and his seven co-conspirators have been captured and summarily executed by an audience of high standing. They were cremated and spread around a tree that dogs are frequent to urinate on." Haz'rd was miffed that they were saying these kinds of things, but he knew that it meant no one was looking for him any more.

He also found out that because of this the military saw it fit that enough damage had been done in retaliation, and that their troops could go home now, even though slighly over half of them hadn't sent word of anything in nearly a week.

With this, Haz'rd thought, it was time to celebrate.

Choices
1. Celebrate the Winterfest this week.
2. Celebrate the Winterfest next week.

Resolution
It was the night before Winterfest,
And all through the forest,
Few creatures were stirring,
Perhaps just a mouse.

The kits were all nestled snug in their beds,
As thoughts of a good feast danced in their heads.
Haz'rd and Co. had a night cap and said,
"Time to go off to bed."

When outside the hut, there rose such a noise,
That the Vulpen all jumped up with great poise.
Away to the door they flew with a flash,
To open it and find a fat human with a big white ass.

Showed the man was the big for his britches,
And grumbled, "Damn my dogs are screaming like bitches."
Then it was noticed that there was a sleigh and some carabou,
Thought to themselves, "What the who?"

From out of no where they must have came,
When the man straighten out and hid up his shame.
Calling out to the eight carabou,
"Now you and you, and awe shit, you too."

"You done taking your break?
"For this place gives me the shakes."
Then they were off without another sound,
And there lie something on the ground.

Carefully checking to see what it was,
They found three piles of crap and a package was found.
Opening it to see what it was,
Put shiny new flintlocks and something they couldn't quite make out.

Back in their shack,
They saw it from front to back.
322 pictures of Vixens in sheer,
"Damn," they thought, "Thank heavens that fat man stopped here."

Semper Fidelis
Prelude
It took a few days to reach the mountain ranges, but there he was, along with his men. Over the days he had tried to gain their trust, though it was not forthcoming. Semper was fairly young for an officer, and that lead the four men he was leading to not yet believe in his abilities. They followed his orders without question, however.

Action
They began in the mountains by climbing higher, to get a good way to proceed. This was a bit of a daunting task, but they managed well enough for the time being. He looked at his men, and asked for their opinion on the matter of finding the device.

The two experienced mountaineers both gave him the same answer, in slightly different language it went, "I think that your commanders don't know their ankles from their knees, there is no device that can do this. The Aqku don't do thing the way we do. We've been into Aqku territory a number of times, and we were never bothered by earthqaukes, it's only when we try sending in rails or high numbers of troops does it happen. And it does, every single time. It's magic, that's how they do it. Their knowledge in metalworking is for swords, arrows, armor, and plowshares. If they had a device that could cause earthquakes, the Aqky people would be more advanced then ourselves."

Then there were the thoughts of the other two, which both went along the same lines, "The Aqku can't be better then us, they just can't be. We've got our orders, sure, but we might as well relax while we're out here, do some hiking, then in a month we can start back and tell them we couldn't find anything in the area we trekked."

Semper Fidelis gave the two a slight tongue lashing, but agreed, "This doesn't seem possible from a logical point of view. Though as said, we have our orders. We will search what we can, and I will decide when we turn back."

Choices
1. Proceed on, searching hard for the device, while getting closer to Aqku territory.
2. Proceed on, searching in between, generally, the Aqku and Maqku territory.

Resolution
For five days they pushed into the mountains, doing as much to look around as they could for keeping warm. The men thought it was a waste of time but followed Semper's orders. As night was approaching they were up in between two peaks, then shaking started to occur.

All around them the snow started to give way. They tried to hold on to something but found their axes didn't hold. They all feel for about ten feet and could see a thing as snow dust flew up all around.

As it settled they could see a hole in the mountain. It was odd looking as it appeared to merge seamlessly with it, although all around it was a sheer facing. Semper told them to check it out and when the first man stepped in, lights appearred out of no where from inside.

Ninemeindrol
Prelude
A month's worth of hard walking and he was half-way between where his Pious had died, and the Monestary he was directed towards. All along his trip he prayed. From the moment he awoke to the last moment before sleep. He was praying even when a thunk was heard, pain erupted from his noggin, and he fell to the ground unconscious.

Action
When Ninemeindrol awoke he found he had been bound down by a couple of Maqku soldiers. They hadn't realized he had awoken yet, and tended to their fire while ignoring him. There were four of them, and each seemed as annoyed as the others, except for one, who seemed to be their commander.

"We got one of them religiousy people, we can go home now, right," asked one man.

The man who was about to speak seemed to be much more educated, and much better dressed then the other three, "No, we get what information we can from him, kill him, then continue our mission."

In a whiny sort of way another asked, "But what if he wakes up and does some mumble jumbo on us and turns us into goats? I hears them Aqku can do's that."

Snorting and speaking in disgust, "You inbred hick, the Aqku can do no such thing. Simple trickery is what it is, and if you say in any form that they can do magical things, I will shoot you."

During this time Ninemeindrol had been praying. He was about to do something to take care of the men, but remembered his Pious' words. There must be healing between the two nations, there must be a point of first contact to start this process.

He felt his bonds loosen from him to make him free and a knife appearred in hand. A platter of meat was now besides him, and he could do one of a two things.

Choices
1. Cook and serve the food.
2. Kill the Maqku.

Resolution
Ninemeindrol headed his Pious' words, but knew now was not the time to start healing the rift. Taking the knife he called for God's help to give him swiftness.

A flash filled the air and a head rolled, then the light was gone and all the Maqku were slumped on the ground. He prayed now for their souls to be safe, and around the fire the ground gave away. Then as quickly as it dropped it was back, bringing up with it a metal grate above the fire.

Ninemeindrol went to the tree and got the platter. He placed it on the grate and waited a little bit. He got comfy around the fire, and snacked on the pieces of meat.

After he was done eating he took the platter off and put out the fire. Going back to the tree he layed down, and took a nice long nap, tired from the power he had called down.
