Chapter 15

Haz'rd Vulp
Prelude
A cannonball roared through the forest, breaking full grown trees like they were twigs. Warning shots for the warriors within. They stood at the edge of the forest, the fighters of Vulpen and Aqku forces.

Fortunate they were for Aqku magic shielded them from their enemies vision. Cannonballs roared above, and they stood without fear. The moment one stepped out into the open they would all be seen. After an hour of the cannonballs overhead the order was given, the first battle for the defense of the Vulpen lands had begun.

Action
They started to come in. In droves the Maqku forces meandered into the forest, at this point expecting to have scared off the Vulpen. To their surprise from finding themselves covered in their own blood, the Maqku realized that the Vulpen were everywhere, along side them were Aqku.

More cannonfire went at the Vulpen and Aqku, but only a couple of Vulpen died from this. The strongest warriors of the Aqku found the Priest's magic was causing the cannonballs to merely bounce back at the enemy.

There was another surprise in store for the Maqku as a huge hail of fire landed on them. The cause of this was a big gun a hundred feet in length that had been shielded by Aqku magic causing the cannonfire to miss. Though the gun didn't cause the fire directly, the Aqku Priests setting the lead alight did.

The first force of Maqku found themselves destroyed by the end of the day, and many of their soldiers captured. The Vulpen and Aqku rejoiced. It had been a long time that they had that strong of a victory over the Maqku.

Choices
  • Charge!
  • Let them make the same foolish decision to attack.
Resolution
Haz'rd had been with the big gun when it was fired. The display had been impressive, and the job of cleaning up those who remained had been simple.

Even with this kind of power on their side, Haz'rd knew it was only a matter of time before the Maqku sent another wave at them, and there was only so long the men could hold out for.

Semper Fidelis
Prelude
While the commanding officer had told the cannoneers to fire blindly into the forest, Semper and the two young soldiers he choose followed him into the forest. Although they were away from the battle they each had this inescapable feeling they were being watched.

After travelling into the forest for a bit a shot rang out. A young Maqku soldier stammered, "I-I thought I saw something," and pointed to a point that could barely be seen.

Action
Snarling took up too the ears of the three Maqku soldiers in the forest. Without warning shots were fired from out of no where, striking down the two companions to Semper Fidelis. By sheer luck he was still alive, and wondering hard about why he actually survived.

Coming in from all around he found himself surrounded by Vulpen with their guns trained on him. He could be gutsy, he thought, or he could be safe. Which, he had to think of quickly.

Choices
  • Be taken prisoner.
  • Fight to the death.
Resolution
To his surprise he wasn't killed outright after being taken down. He had been blindfolded and beaten a few times to the point of unconsciousness. When he awoke he was still blindfolded, but he had the sense that he was inside of a tent or hut of some kind.

Ninemeindrol
Prelude
Walking into that hole of darkness something strange occured. It appeared that he was walking in a hallway now, with lights guiding his way. As he walked along he noticed that the walls looked like they were about to burst, with cracks formed all over them.

Action
The walls unfortunately did collapse, but that was behind him. After he had left the chamber with the green heart. The nice thing about this, he found, was that his connection to God had returned, and he was free to move about the lands.

Choices
  • Go home.
  • Search around a bit.
Resolution
He thought of staying, but only for a moment. Instantly they were back in the church, and Ninemeindrol decided to take a long nap for it.
