Prelude, Choices, and Resolution

Haz'rd Vulp
Prelude
Over the next few days Aqku warriors were popping up all over the place. They stayed in the woods and were a bit of a boon since they helped the Vulpen villagers where they could. They help build structures and command posts, and a few of the commanders built a good report with many village elders.

The magic that the Aqku displayed was unnerving to many, but they realized that having these people here would keep them safe. Many myths were destroyed, too, such as the belief that Aqku first born were sacrificed in a fire, and that Vulpen furs were skinned from Eastern villages every few moons.

Action
The friction between the Vulpen people and the Aqku troops quickly passed. There were some annoyances on a lot of trees being cut down for housing, but beyond that, things were fairly dandy.

Haz'rd surpringly wasn't let in on a few critical talks between Aqku leaders and elder Vulpens. He felt somewhat uneased by this turn of events. After a few days of this one of the elders told him that his actions of torturing the Maqku poachers, there was some trouble with the Aqku rationalizing dealing with him.

Scrunching his brows together Haz'rd was bothered since it was he that was contacted by the Aqku, no one else. He didn't want to say anything since it might jeopordize relations, and he didn't want that at all right now.

He was thankful he had kept his mouth shut, since a week after the Aqku arrive there was a message on the wires. It was a warning that the Maqku had decided that the Vulpen rebelling was unnacceptable, and that they were to be destroyed, each and every last one of them.

Since Haz'rd gave this news to the people who needed to know, he was asked what he would think should be done.

Choices
  • Strike early, taking forces to the enemy.
  • Set up defenses with the Aqku on the fronlines.
  • Set up defenses with mixed regiments.
Resolution
The elders agreed with Haz'rd that setting up a defense with mixed regiments was the best way to proceed. The Aqku magic could greatly help the Vulpen army, but there were some things to be ironed out yet.

Haz'rd went to one of the holy men that had came with. He asked the man to bless a pistol he had with him. The holy man asked Haz'rd, "Why would you wish me to do this now? The enchantment won't last, and we're no where near being in battle."

Replying to the concern, "Holy man, I dunno if you know this, but magic and me guns probably don't mix. I need to know that now, rather then later."

The holy man nearly scowled, but complied. A soft mist came from the holy man's hands and enveloped the gun. Then it glowed a little brightly and sunk into the weapon.

Feeling a bit peckish Haz'rd took aim at a bird in the sky, further away then the gun could possibly reach. He aimed, then took the shot. Three seconds later the bird was falling to the ground, as was the pistol, which had just crumbled to it's individual bits.

"Well, that's that," said Haz'rd to the holy man, while going to retrieve him meal. As he walked he hoped there were ways to have the Aqku help the Vulpen more directly, then reciprocally with a joint defense.

Semper Fidelis
Prelude
There wasn't really much to do over the course of the next few weeks. The commander had told him to sit tight for a while, since there was something in the works, but wasn't ready to be handed down from on high.

Action
Semper didn't really have much of a problem with the Vulpen people, thought they were kind of paradoxical. There was a question burning at the back of the mind that he wanted to ask the species, but figured unless he captured one of them he'd never know.

He was fairly low in the pecking order of things, so was relagated to being part of a larger force that was to fight the enemy head on. There was still that question that he felt needed to be answered, so he thought it over.

Choices
  • Ask the commander to have some Vulpen captured.
  • Ask the commander to be set out on a scouting expedition
Resolution
Talking with his new commander, the old one had been switched out on the trip up, he asked to be sent on a scouting mission. He wanted to capture a Vulpen for questioning, specifically.

"We've already got scouts and trained interrogator out there. How do I know you're just not going to dessert me," asked the commander.

There was a look of apprehension on Semper's face, "I am a faithful soldier to the Maqku forces. I've been sent on missions before with a small force or even no force, and I've come back each time. You will not have this soldier dessert this army."

The gave a scoff that mixed in with a laugh, "Fine, you'll get two people to take with you. Now get out of my face."

Semper saluted and went to collect two soldiers and things he'd need.

Ninemeindrol
Prelude
He couldn't figure out from where he was what exactly it was he was looking at. Slowly he decended with the child, getting closer he could feel the heat rising to levels beyond what he could shield the boy from. Moving back towards the hole that had been created he noticed it closed on its own. Trying to simply go back to the church without moving there failed. When he noticed that he was falling and had no power he began to really worry.

Action
Once the point was reached that Ninemeindrol couldn't stand the heat he simply went unconscious. To his happy discovery he awoke still very much alive, instead of being burnt to death. He was lying on his stomach, and the child to was his side. The boy's breathing was heavy, so that meant he was at least still alive.

Looking up he could see it clearly now. His mind still couldn't make out what exactly it was, but at least he could see. It appeared to be a giant beating green heart, with dozens of thick strands leaving it, sending pulses of bright green light down the strands.

There was this nearly overwhelming feeling within him to touch the object. A part of his mind wanted it more then anything, but knowing the boy was still there made him want to search for a way out of wherever he was.

Choices
  • Search for an exit
  • Touch the object
Resolution
He wondered just what was causing him to want to touch the beating heart, and that thought prompted him to not do it. His idle curiosity never took a hold of him this strongly, and this warned him to go.

Lifting the boy wasn't too difficult, but the ease that God granted him through his powers made it difficult to keep a good hold on him. With the child grappled he looked around. The glow made it possible to see to an extent, but not very well overall.

He walked to what looked like a hole in the wall. It was pitch black in here, but it was the only choice he had.
